A FINAL WORD

Should I venture?

Hesitate? Nay!

I ink the words, that

my being could not say.

And the pain?

The pain may come what might.

For now,

indeed now,

It is to Hades with foresight.

       For, you are my love

and you are my light.

                                                            Just this whisper,

And you withered away.

A broken heart in

sorrowful dismay.

But sorrow must be felt

And not seen.

A smile is a gentleman’s mask.

For your happiness I have forever been

And there was so much to ask;

Did you ever feel?

Did you ever believe?

Did you ever love?

Did you ever grieve?

I did.

And grieve still.

I reason with my soul

That happiness will come my way,

When we meet again

Somewhere, someday.

Yet, here in this world, without you,

 I am lost.

A final word left to say;

Go beyond the stars,

Where heaven lies.

Go my love,

For I see freedom in your eyes.
