The BOY IN THE CORNER

The one you choose not to notice,

the one that you ignore,

the boy that hides in the corner

by the old oak door.

He will save the world one day

and indirectly your life:

Forever in debted to him

for his personal sacrifice.

To simply not take the time

to say a single kind word,

to only turn your head away

and pretend you never heard

his cry to you for a smile,

his longing for appreciation,

so much pain in such a short while.

He feels the rejected stares

and they slash like a knife.

Steal a moment to speak to him,

you owe him your life.
