That Memorable Day

It was a warm summer day,

through the fields I was making my way.

humming a tune & looking around,

suddenly I heard an unfamiliar husky sound.

I turned & studied that stranger

he looked fair & somewhat familiar.

"Oh common! I'm seeing him for the first time.

& admiring beauty is not a crime!"

Somehow he read my mind.

"hello miss, would you be that kind,

to tell me the way to the town

co'z I'm lost." he said with a frown.

I was still mesmerized by his beauty.

but alas! I had to do my duty.

"Of course I can tell you.

& Mr. I think to this village you are new."

"Ralph. Ralph is my name."

he said adjusting his frame.

"& yes I'm new to this place."

said he with a blush on his face.

Wow! what a man he is.

I said with almost a bliss.

should I tell him the wrong way.

so that with us he will have to stay.

Oh shut up! what all I'm thinking.

I'm day dreaming without even blinking.

he's just a stranger to me.

then why I'm over reacting I don't see.

"You seem to be lost in your own dream land."

he said shaking my hand.

"Oh I'm so sorry." I said

"but I had some thoughts in my head."

"Ah! you were asking me the way out.

climb that hill & drive south."

"thank you. really thanks a lot."

"my pleasure." I said with a thought.

He turned & hurried towards his car,

which was parked a little far.

he's going? please don't go.

but it was a fact I had to know.

I shouted," will you come back again?"

oh my God! am I insane?

I barely know this man

& I've become his such a big fan.

"what?" he asked from there.

"what did you say? I couldn't hear."

"oh nothing. nothing at all.

I was saying that night will soon fall.

you must reach the city before dusk."

"that's very kind of you." he said with the same husk.

He started his car & came towards me.

"miss, you haven't told me your name you see."

"oh! didn't I? I'm very sorry.

people call me Meg, but my name is Marry."

"bye Marry & thank you once again.

I shook his hand almost with pain.

don't go. please don't leave me

& I think my pain God could see.

Co'z as he drove a little ahead,

his tyre was punctured with pieces of lead.

"what happened?" I inquired.

"I guess that I have a flat tyre."

"That means you'll stay here tonight?"

"I don't have other option so I think you're right."

wow! was it really happening.

thank you god for your blessings.

am I that lucky? I thought.

& all those lonely years I tried to forgot.

"So now we have a lot of time to kill.

we'll have to walk a long way up that hill.

common, we can move now, can't we?"

but when I looked back he was standing there smiling at me.
