I saw this canary
Loved it at first sight.
He was so beautiful
For me he was just right.
I bought him a little pendant,
On it I wrote his name.
Put it to his neck,
With the help of a tiny chain.
One day I went to his cage,
And saw that he was gone.
But now it was too late,
All I could do was mourn. |
|
Months later I was on my way,
When I saw my canary again.
I tried my best to catch him,
But it was all in vain.
I realised my mistake,
And so called out his name.
Suddenly he stopped flying,
To me at once he came.
I caught him in my hands,
And saw the pendent that he wore.
It wasnt the one I gave him,
He wasnt mine anymore! |

The canary I loved so much,
Who I waited for so long.
It pinched me when he said,
To me he didnt belong.
But I had to let him go,
I had to say good-bye.
So I kissed him lightly on his head,
And wiped the tear from my eye.
I loosened from around him,
My hand that throbbed with pain.
He stayed there for a moment,
And then flew off again...
