MUSIC
'Twas
evening when I left and walked
Upon a gravel road,
My friend caught up but neither talked.
And 'round us silence flowed.
Along the quiet road we went
And heard the crunching noise.
And this became an instrument
A note, a sound, a poise.
Then a cricket joined the song,
And not to be outdone,
Another cricket sang along.
Then sang another one.
The frogs then added harmony
The toads, they added bass.
Mosquitoes helped the melody.
And music filled the place.
The wind arose and sang its part.
The leaves began to rustle.
Then began to sing my heart,
My skin, my bones, my muscle.
The moon illuminated
This joyful spectacle.
My soul felt so elated!
Complete. So very full!
My voice was added to the song,
And left to go solo,
I lifted it in joyful praise.
And let my music flow.
My friend had joined his voice with mine,
We sang beneath the moon.
Our voices soon began to twine.
In this, our glorious tune.
It faded off into the night,
And left us feeling warm.
We stood beneath the moonlight.
Watched its spheric form.
Hand in hand we walked away,
This song a memory.
And at the approach of the coming day.
No less diminished glory.
