MEMORIES

Lying here in bed so quiet,
wondering if the kids turned out their light.

Hopefully peaceful sleep and dreams,
but kids don't know what you mean.

Thinking of the day that just went by,
just tired and hungry, I sit and sigh.

Frustrations and anger come and go,
Someone told me before, I told you so.

Home at last, after a grueling flight,
All I want, is to hang it up for the night.

But food to cook and laundry to wash,
out of everything, Oh! my gosh.

TV always blurting out so loud,
In the den, seems like a crowd.

Hubby up doing the dishes,
he's so sweet, fulfilling my wishes.

Need to bathe and wash my hair,
so sore and tired, I don't seem to care.

Night is drawing now so near,
and the call on the phone for my son to hear.

Off and away he goes for a walk,
to see his friend and talk.

Soon will be bedtime and sleep,
things left undone, piled in a heap.

Tomorrow brings the early Fall,
maybe then, rested, I can stand tall.

Today I'll be chipper and bright,
and do all my chores just right.

My goals are many and a few,
but keep on working for a clue,

to solve my headaches and my woes,
But I just sit here, counting my toes.

Today has been long but good,
for once, I did what I should.
