Hiroshima- The Day Before

Another day in offing
People busy with their chores
Bit afraid, living under shadow of fire
They worked, unaware of an approaching holocaust

The women cleaned their homes
Children argued over their games
Men busy weeding the paddy
The sun was just waking

Far away in Tinian, took off Colonel Tibbets
In comfort and luxury of his machine
Waiting to rain vengeance,
Ever imagined in any one's dreams

The "asked for" was "given" to them
A parcel of destruction
Draped in colors of pride and arrogance
Dropped the bomb of annihilation.

Their wails unheard, the danger unseen
Innocence curbed, kindness trampled
Demon of brutality prevailed on humanity
Showering havoc never to be paralleled

Children orphaned, parents bereaved
All because of the energy released
Faces burnt, bodies charred
The gateway to hell as opened

Under veil of the military might
On pretext of ceasing the fight
The curse attired in fire and light
Maimed many, o! A terrible and ghastly sight

Million worth innocence trampled upon
Fluttered on it the flag of imperialism
On the land of the rising sun
Where, for many. Sun would never rise

No pardon for the allies
For a show of authority
Sodomized humanity
With utter destruction of other wise, an innocent city
