THE MONSTER MENACE
A monster I have seen many times
In my dreams;
Never had I ever known
Of her existence,
When in innocence I was clothed.
But now she appears like a delirious demon
Dancing destruction to all
Who chance to come my way?
Of her origin unaware am i
Whence from does she thus come
Approaching like a wicked storm
Tiny was she at her budding stage
I can see her now full grown ?
Nay still growing to what extent
I dare not think.
Sleeps does she
Sometimes if left undisturbed
Many times have I seen her face
But there were tears there before
Not this all engulfing rage.
Of that sorrow and guilt no trace remains!
She has become a law unto herself
Rules reigns over me
Standing tall indestructible:
When aroused takes control
Of everything she hates.
I witness her bringing
Sorrow to the people I love
And who love me too
She pushes them all away;
Finding a way to stop
To put an end to this monster
Would be next to impossible
But tarry ye! Awhile
Let me ponder the way!
As I glance into the mirror
Lo behold there divines the answer
The mystery solved!
Cause at the reflection when I glance
There I see her the monster
Smiling back at me
With the wrath and fire of hell.
Then do I perceive the monster
None other but me ! !
