A PRAYER

I asked for strength, god
To face the world with my head held high;
You gave me emotions
And all I could do was just to breathe a sigh.

I asked for destiny, god
To lace my life with deeds of fame;
You gave me diligence
And I thought that it was just a shame.

I asked for love, god
To garnish my life with happiness;
You gave me a friend
And I could not even confess.

I asked for something, god
That would make my life look good;
You gave me everything
But still, alone in infinity I stood.
