upon a shooting star?
Of good things asked more?
that you'd dream less?
And act on them more?
that you'd apologized?
When given the chance?
that you hadn't hesitated?
To ask someone for a dance?
that you'd looked back?
Just one more time?
that words you didn't lack?
And that your poetry did rhyme?
that you'd said 'I Love You'?
Even though you feared rejection?
that someone your dragons slew?
Your heartstrings did undo?
that you'd asked 'why'?
And not silently accepted?
that you hadn't flashed a grin wry?
Even as your heart bled?
that you hadn't said 'go'?
When you'd actually meant 'stop'?
that you hadn't said 'no'?
When you'd actually meant 'yes'?

If wishes were horses,
I'd be rich indeed
For, by now I would have cut my losses
And ridden off on my fiery steed.
