Stormy Night

Too many splashes , too many stormy waves

A rainy night ; the storm furious

The shore lay bare , not a soul in sight

Even the moon had fled ; afraid of the impending storm

Some stars above the grey sky did peep

From Heaven’s window ; down on the lonely beach

Go home ; go home to your resting place !

Some sea -gulls cried in grief .

There , your loved ones are waiting, waiting

For the wayward sons to come home

Home cooked meals smell sweet , warm

It drives away the chill , the cold biting air

Wash it down with a cup of hot chocolate delight

Have some ice-cream for desert .

Go home ; go home !

Where shadows has been ;the sun shines through

The ebb and flow of the sea will never cease

Never rest ; yet humans must rest .

So go home , go home .

Was the entreating call of the passing gulls .

Where tears fall ; let smile triumph

Then slowly …after a while

The traveller heard the call of the wild

His tension eased , his face relaxed .

You could almost see the ghost of a smile

On the tired, weather beaten face

At last , at last ; at rest , at rest !

Peace came

Into the numbed heart

Hatred fled

Love triumphed

Shadows lengthening

Gone from the isolated shore

Gone from the cold night wind

Back home ; home sweet home.
