COLOURS

from the time the sun at dawn
reddens resolve and cracks the day

and blades soaking on my lawn
woo the eye, dew-green and ghost-grey

a breeze blows blue the whisper
of a frothing monstrous ocean

and i, worldly-wise, prosper
purified by white sky vision

let me melt loving the night
black and safe as the womb of light.
