THE LOST KEY

Ever experienced the helplessness, the chagrin of having lost the key?
Believe me, it is the weirdest of moments bordering on unreality.
You stand before your very own home happy, anticipating warm bed & hot meal
And the next instant there is chaos when searching the pocket you miss the
metallic feel.

You are stunned-then curse your fate
You search meticulously and retrace every step
The dogs in the street are suspicious and stare at you
Perhaps you have turned loony -is their opinion- they may pity you.

You climb the pipe and walk the tightrope
To reach the terrace and gain entry-your fervent hope!!
Embarrassment is writ large on your face
When neighbors watch disdainfully your every step.

The lost key leaves you shamefaced and nonplussed
With the key lost-conviction is lost-faith in oneself is lost.
Key is merely a physical metaphor
The scruples like keys must be treasured.

One must not be waylaid by raiders like greed and vanity.
A perplexed mind is wont to lose sight of sanity
The result -anxieties plague and he feels the helplessness
Of the boarder detained outside due to absentmindedness.
