If flowers have Tears

If flowers have tears

Won’t they shed tears of pain

As those flower lovers

Mercilessly pluck their heads off their stems

Just to give them as a token of love

To their beloved .

If grass can feel pain and torments

Won’t they feel it , as living creatures

Trample on its grassy buxom

On their way to hunt , to look for food , to go somewhere

About their daily business ?

If trees can cry , won’t they rain down their leafy tears

As the tall giraffes reach for their greeness

and munch them clean all in a day !

And when the humans , the worst of the whole lot

Climb on them , cut down their branches or

clear the jungle for a building site !

Won’t they complain and cry ?

What about the chickens , the birds , the cows and the sheep ?

They too can feel pain and joy or both ?

Do they have tears , fears, resentment when

The butchers’ knives are sharpened for the kill

To lay on the table them ; a meal , a tasty meal .

What about those loving hearts

That won’t speak the stories of their joy , grief or woes

Each time careless unkind words pierce their loving hearts ?

Each time , tide of remorse , tides of doubts rolls over

To drown the voice of the fresh and happy past ?

If they too have unshed tears , unvoiced grief

Won’t they cry like flowers , trees , sheep and green grass ?
