HOPE
Once I lived in a beautiful world.
I sang on trees the songs of love.
I swam in pools with beautiful nymphs.
I roamed the universe on the wings of birds
And felt very happy and at peace with world.
But slowly and subtly the scenario has changed.
The trees are gone and so are the songs.
From the deserts come only the cries of hatred.
The limpid pools have become dirty puddles,
Let alone the nymphs, they are not fit for turtles.
I feel very sad and cross with the world.
The sky is polluted and the earth is ruined.
Man created a great many things but
Has left the nature badly bruised.
How long he survives in this labyrinth - I wonder..
So despondent I am now, life has lost its lustre.
I gaze around dolefully and think of nothing but failure.
I see a little child watering green saplings nearby
My spirits uplift once again, all my sorrows elope.
· I feel happy and cheerful; the child has just given me hope.
