The Day One

26/08/03

At last the D-Day had dawned,

The scheduled hour, nearing.

I cleaned up my workplace,

And cleared any mess.

I didn’t want to goof up,

On my first day at work.

My ‘client’ was quite tricky,

I was priorly warned.

Her past associates had all given up,

Fallen pray to her tricks.

Thus pre-warned,

I was nervous.

My chance to prove myself,

I did not want to lose.

‘Ding Dong’ said the clock,

Closely followed by a tap at my door.

5:00 pm on-the-dot,

Yes, it has got to be her.

I held the door open,

My ‘client’ stepped inside.

Her arms were loaded,

With ‘documents’ and ‘stationary’.

I led her to my desk,

Clearly dazed on how to start.

I took a look at the content,

‘Oh! This is going to be easy’

I thought to myself.

I jotted down a few things,

And showed it to her.

‘You work on this for me,

And then we will proceed.’

I relaxed for a moment,

But just then came,

“Akka! What is this thing?”

Questioned my dear 7 year old client,

Pointing to the division symbol.

Wow! I thought.

Looking at the cute quizzical face.

That was a great kick start,

To my wonderful odyssey as “Tuition Ma’am”
