Let Me Be

Dear Dad,

I am the sister,
I am the wife,
I am the mother
who gives you life.
Yet, you don't want a daughter
So my life you plan to smother
in the womb that was to nurture me!

Let me come into this world
And I give you my word...
I'll help reduce your struggle and strife
And for our family make a better life.

Just give me a chance to go to school
Don't make for me some different rule!
Don't think of me as a burden
I'll be self-reliant with education.

Love, compassion, care and patience
All these I have in abundance...
Don't deprive your self of me
Please just let me your daughter be!!
