HOMEWARD
Lush grass beneath my feet
And countless stars above
Behold the smiling heath
While I pine away for love.
A dull sound pervades my thought.
A sound inexplicably hollow.
I strain my ears to hear
But what, I cannot follow.
The voice beckons me
I hear it - above, beyond,beneath.
Forcing my eyes to see
I scan the mellow heath.
I look for a hint at Him.
My helmsman turns away.
This fills my eyes to the brim,
I see what he's trying to say.
Loneliness hits me hard
The expedition seems absurd.
The beginning's so misty now,
I turn around. Start walking homeward.
