Darling Daughter
After a hard day’s work, Daddy reaches home tired. He pays of the taxi, Which he had just hired. As soon as he steps inside, He is bawled over by a toddler. Who let’s out a squeal of delight, Just at the sight of her father. All his tiredness forgotten, He picks up his little girl. She is his darling daughter, His precious pearl. He kisses her cheeks, So soft and tender. Just being with her, Made him feel better. The child babbles on enchanted, About her adventures of the day. Father patiently listens, With joy more than words can say. She talks of how she learnt her ABCs, And how she swallowed a cube of ice! Just to enjoy these moments with her, Even a hundred years wouldn’t suffice. Daddy gives her a candy bar, She happily walks away with it. He watches her amazed, Of how much joy a little girl can bring.
