A Beautiful Day

I woke up to the sound,

Of water splashing against, my window pane.

A wisp of cool breeze blew in,

In the air, hung the smell of rain.

I walked up to the window,

To take in the full view of the rain,

‘Pitter-patter’ fell the drops,

Making pools and puddles across the lane.

Not a bird was in sight,

All huddled up in their nests, I guessed.

As the usual chirping and twittering I wake up to,

By the pattering of rain, were hushed.

I gazed up the clock,

6:30 am, it showed.

Time to carry on the daily routine, and rush to college,

Of which I was really bored.

“Hey! It’s a Sunday!”,

It struck me all of a sudden.

Happily, I had a quick wash,

And sat to plan the day ahead.

“Maybe if the rain stopped,

I could go out” I thought.

But the rain, it poured and poured,

Stop. It just would not.

Knowing I had to stay indoors,

I thought I could sit and read,

My gaze fell on my bookshelf,

Oh! Yes. Rebecca it would be.

Clutching my book in one hand,

And a mug of hot chocolate, in the other,

I settled down beside my window,

To enjoy the beautiful weather.

Mesmerised by the book,

I sat there all day.

Sipping at my hot drink,

Not realizing the time slip away.
