THE LION KING

A lost girl I was…..
Ambling about the thick-set woods….
My heart numb with scars….
My mind tired with exhaustion.
As the first rays of the sun spread out….
I find myself still groping my way…….
When from nowhere I hear a majestic roar………
A mighty lion saying, “Good Morning!”.
Fear, hesitation, timidity…holds me back.
Cringing with doubt I look aside.
Shrugging , he jauntily jogs off,
Leaving me puzzled to know more.
I find him yet again, near a shimmering lake.
Trembling from within I extend a friendly hand,
Pouncing on it gaily, he shakes it ardently…..
Bringing a smile to my lips……long forgotten.
Together we explore the woods,
Competing fiercely to match wits…..
Dormant and hushed out emotions buried deep,
now being woken up anew….
Moments of warmth….
Moments of despair……
Moments of happiness……
Moments of sadness….
Moments of laughter, ringing out in the woods…..
Moments of tears washing their way through….
A complete revival of emotions,
That were thought long dead….
Spurting and gushing out like a repressed geyser.
A beast so powerful……so fierce,
A brave heart, with compassion generously coated,
Warmth and passion so carefully leashed….
To be let out during just the right moments,
Makes him so very endearing to me.
Flowers of gratitude bloom colorfully within,
Their roots growing fast and strong,
Shackling the very fibers of my heart,
Serenading a loud “thank you!”.
A jarring realization of separation now haunts me……
The flowers of my heart wondering how to say goodbye,
To……..
The leader of all beasts,
The king of lions,
The gallant hero among kings,
The warmest man among heroes,
The rarest of friends among men,
My most special jewel among friends.
Yet I must prepare to carry on,
My lonely journey through the woods,
Without Simba by my side……..
