Example
You are my example, and I am watching you. I’m learning from your actions what exactly I should do. Your words mean nothing to me, if your life won’t say the same. I find it quite confusing, what you do in Jesus’ name. You tell me not to lie, or let my evil tongue just roam And then when Mrs. Carter comes, you say you’re not at home. You lecture me on stealing and say you wouldn’t dare As you take a towel from the inn and say there’s lots to spare. You tell me not to murder, then a car goes speeding by, And if looks could kill a person, then that driver’d surly die! You say that I should honor parents even when I’m stuck And then go on to tell me how your own parents suck! You speak against idolatry, explain that it’s a sin, But then you’d rather watch TV than go to church again. You tell me of adultery, but may I ask you why You stare so very longingly at that girl’s upper thigh? You tell me not to covet what does not belong to me And then go on to say that you want your best friend’s CD So please would you explain to me, on this subject expand. I’m sorry I’m so very dull, I just don’t understand. My questions seem so many that they seem to come in herds. You see, the thing I understand is actions, over words.
