A WARM HANDSHAKE

You enter school you look around

As the teacher finishes headcount

So many faces, it seems so rough

Making friends, is it so tough

Just stretch your hand, don’t wait

All you need is a warm handshake.

Making your way through a busy street

A long gone friend you often meet

Stop and stare and then you wonder

Speaking to him might make a blunder

Just stretch your hand, don’t wait

What reassures friendship is a warm handshake

You see a stranger walking past

On his face, sorrow was cast

You close your eyes and begin to pray

Tears of pity stream down your face

But in the end all that helps

All that matters is a gesture you make

Go ahead, don’t wait

Cheer him up with a warm handshake.
