A
TROUSSEAU FOR MY DAUGHTER

It is the first
time ever
That I see the rainbows flicker
In the drops, that moisten my eyes
heart smiling alongside few sighs

But then ,this is perhaps
one of the few times
A father is packing a trousseau
for his daughter , as in backdrop
her wedding bells chimes

What do I pack for you , my child
my imagination runs wild
something for her to wear
your mom’s prompting …you may hear

Well….
I would like you to wear
Your radiant smile
That lit up my world
When you were born
And has been glowing my life …..ever since
like the sun at early morn

I would like you to wear
Your natural attitude
Full of warmth and fun
Caring for all ……….all the time
And hurting never …..anyone

I wish to let your natural grace
Unfold out of the trousseau
Spreading joy of beauty all around
heartburns leaving without a trace

The jewels
That glitter out of trousseau
Are not diamonds or gold
Neither the stones , nor the
Jewels exquisitely rolled

But
The values you treasured
All your life..
The empathy and the compassion
The courage of conviction
The love and affection
Adorning your persona as a whole
Richer than any makeup kit
Enhancing the beauty of the soul…..

All these things and
maybe some more
Shall go with your Trousseau
to your door
As you open it in your new home
You might notice a dried up spot….
Perhaps a teardrop forming a dome
might have rolled
off my eyes in a shot….

But tears are overflows of joy
Or maybe I ‘ll be missing you so
Tugging the heart of this old boy
As I reflect I ‘ll have to let you go

I hope , the Trousseau
lives up to its charms
And find your new home
Welcome you with open arms
