LOVE A horror-stricken night it was The sky with demons was overcast No sound no movement could be seen or heard Except the singing of a weird bird. Young Neel looked out on the road The mist was thick, the vision was low He his ladylove was to meet At the weary end of the hilly street. He stood up and made to go The clouds just then began to low Down poured rain in a fearful sweep Neel looked on and could not weep. This meeting was the fruition of a dream He must leave he must leave Up went his hand for his raincoat And out in the rain was he bold. Five miles plodding up a mazy road Panting and fuming he reached so That demon fear and dwarfish doubt His ladylove would not assault. Up on the summit when he reached No sound no movement could he feel Save the twittering of the mocking owl And the flaming eyes of the fretting clouds. He stood his ground this love lorn Casablanca Through the decay of the day and the birth of the morn But no sound no movement could he espy Save the slithering west wind’s rustling sigh! ~Ravi Dhar~
