A Chance Encounter
It started out as a Maine photo shoot, The foliage was almost at peak now; The road I took was less traveled, But I seemed to be led there somehow. I chanced upon a little pond, against A backdrop of a beautiful fall sky; A farmhouse sat back in the distance, Framed by multicolored trees nearby. The camera captured this scenic view. That done, was turning the car around When sounds of “honking’ filled the crisp air And a shadow from above covered the ground. Looking up...too numerous to tally, A gaggle of geese were approaching; I watched in awe as they circled the pond... Watched as they continued encroaching. A splash here and there as they landed, The little pond was quickly possessed; All were now safely hidden from view, Except from me, as you likely have guessed. Soon all was still, save a quiet honk or two, I stood there amazed at what just occurred; I felt privileged to have witnessed it all… Still couldn’t believe what I’d seen and heard. Seems that in a world so laced with evil, There are still ways to put things aside; Little did I know the blessing I’d receive The day I chose to go for a scenic ride. Twilah Oct.2001
