THE PRETENDERS

We see each other everyday

Talk like we are friends

Pretending we don’t notice

The raging undercurrents

Making sure our eyes don’t meet

They might say too much

About how we really feel

When we accidentally touch

Knowing that we aren’t free

To be trading hearts

We’re drawn to each other

And still.. drawn apart

Bound by rules of society

The fact that we already belong

To relationships that matter

And the roles that tag along

So we still meet everyday

As friends and nothing more

Living lies… still living our lives

Like we have done before
