TANKA

Alone in chapel
Silently I contemplate.
No sound is heard but
Ticking clock, my own breath, and
Cries of slaughtered innocents.

In unlit room are
Candles adorning altar,
Symbols, reminding
Of divine light shining still
In a world full of darkness.

Above is stained glass
Depicting flying white dove
On a field of blue,
Emblematic of spirit
And peace in corrupted world.

Rebel, yet I come,
Seeking to know why people
Kill in name of God.
I receive no answer but
"Carry my peace to the world."
