RAINDANCE
Rain, the generous sky’s bounty of life giving water Lovingly moistening the thirsty lips of hot, dry land Inviting the peacock for a wild colorful dance Bathing earth’s very soul back to its pristine beauty
Rain, overcast skies and first smell of newly damp mud Birds huddling in trees, wet wings wrapped around them Raindrops do the tapdance, music everywhere they fall Every heart that’s alive is enraptured by the sounds Rain, torrential curtains of relentless downpour Rivers in spate, overflowing the banks That which gives life is murderous in its rage Destroying, washing away everything in its path Rain, elusive, distant, promising, silver clouds in the sky Drying up before they close in on parched arid land No sign of water above or below the cracked chapped crust Quenching drizzles ignore earth’s thirsty entreating demands Rain, acid rain, sinister in its polluted new avatar Killing as it pours down soaking through dark noxious clouds Punishing, in its warning of doom for all life on the planet Ominous as a messenger of an impending holocaust
