DEAR DEATH,

I want to tell my wife I love her,

Hold my child in my arms again,

Show my parents how much I care,

Thank each one of my friends

Pat my dog’s head one last time,

Buy my nephew the toy he wanted,

Take a long good look at myself

And everything I took for granted

I put all this off for too long

Busy, in my daily routine

Never thought I’d die this way

Just didn’t occur to me

I was victim to a mad attack

By people I don’t even know

Dead, before I realized

My warm body was turning cold

There is still so much to do and say

So many tears still left to cry

Can you send me back for a little while?

Just so I can say goodbye??
