BLIND
SIGHT

Long ago, we
shared a dream pure like a virgin stream
blind to the
world yet through my sightless eyes I heard
birds singing
as one I rejoiced in the warmth of the sun
and the
rainbow glowed true around the halo I made of you

I saw the
dream go rancid
and putrefy with
the stains
of a few
hungry men on the
lap I loved
so much and protest
in me screamed
till my eyes
bled wrenched
from their
sockets by
fingers of hate

Unseeing, without
dread, I stumbled down the path you led
blind in love
unable to stand my heart held warm in your hand
life was
heaven on earth and each day a wonderful birth
why did you
make me see why couldn't you just let me be

Why do eyes
see what they
don't need to
and reality mocks
like the
taunting of a diseased
whore while
you stand helpless
unable to draw
your gaze away
till revulsion
envelops you in
its fetid
cocoon and tired eyes
cringe at each
cruel whiplash

The colours
are shallow and pale, each smell offensive and stale
your flowers
have lost their sheen yet remind me of what might've been
if this is the
world you wanted to show then my eyes can only say no
kill those
eyes you once loved so much, blind me again with your touch.
