VICTORY LABELS

Any of these days,
you may
be snatched away
from me.

And I could be
marooned in this cyber cafe
and reflect painfully
on one too many
silent labels of victory
which would become
a part of my history ;
...a sensible son,
...a loyal husband,
...a responsible father,
...a decent citizen...

Yes,
I would have won
on many personal fronts.
Even you
may walk away
in admiration
of my unending
reservoir of strength.

After many years,
you may reveal
this story
to your grown up children
and they will be
amused and proud
of their enchanting mother.

And all these years
and beyond them
I would have lived
this story
amongst some
silent,
lifeless
labels
of victory.
