URIEL

You hold a sword of fire
Angel of Retribution are you
And once I called you
And I believe you answered too

I have known you for ever
Locked in myth and lore
I have known you
And would still like to know you more

You are the angel whom men should fear
Why is it that then that I hold you dear?
There is mystery, there is hope
There is inspiration I cannot fathom

As I write, do you watch with grim smile?
As I write do you then me guide?
I am poor poet dear angel with sword ablaze
And even a much poorer soul as you well know

But my fingers move, the words appear
So do not ever disappear
Hold your sword, but lend me light
For life to me is always night.
