THE SPARE

Why did you tell me
That I was the fulcrum of your life
I stood like a rock
Through every storm, every strife
But now that you found
A new orbit, you did so change
I suddenly find
That you have moved out of range
I still stand like a rock
For that's what I am
Washed by sorrow
That flows from the dam
All that I didn't feel
Lest I moved from my place
And throw you off balance
With no one to embrace
In your hour of need
I'd promised I'd be there
The centre of your universe
Now just a tyre that's spare.
