THE SOARING BUTTERFLY
(for my friends at kavitanjali)
There was
a butterfly
that
loved to fly
See the
sights and
Float
with the wind
Every
breeze had music
Every
leaf had colour
Every
sound was excitement
So the
butterfly soared
But time
passed and she grew weary
It was no
fun being alone
And so
the butterfly fluttered her wings
And
called out to the skies for love
There
were whispers of hope
And the
wings of love appeared
And she
fluttered with joy
And she
grew excited
But
something was wrong
The dream
of her life made her cry
And the
butterfly fluttered desperately
To seek
love she thought was way too high
But the
winds buffeted her
She fell
with no sound
And
quivered with dead leaves on ground
And her
wings still fluttered, and fluttered
I must
fly she cried to the sun in the sky
I must
fly, she wept, I have to fly
But the
wind moaned and the air became still
And the
butterfly felt she was losing her will
to live
But she
struggled again
And her
wings fluttered so
And a
gentle breeze swept her up
Away from
the ground, she went up and up
And she
saw the sun
And she
fluttered with joy
And lo
and behold there were wings near her
Butterflies
had come to befriend her.
