STAYING SANE

You ask me to talk of flowers

Laughter and spring showers

Fragrant bouquets

Of fun-filled languorous days

Of fluffy clouds and blue skies

Daffodils and polka dotted ties

I do make an effort

And for a while

For you I smile

While my mouth

Is full of bile

It’s a venom I can’t spew

Lest it destroy you

Perhaps because I feel it

I can only see your pain

Yet I know there’s little to gain

By crying to you

Over and over again

But it’s the only way I know

To remain

Sane
