Sand
Castle
What a beautiful sand castle
We had built together with love
It brought us both such happiness
Paradise was 'here' &
'now'
Its turrets and towers, majestic
Its moat &
bridge just right
Every bit a sheer delight
Pure perfection till the fight
In a trance I watched the storm
Which shattered it all to sand
You thought it was all my doing
To me, it was wrought by your hand
We were immature, volatile youth
Just one spark and we went Boom
What we thought was indestructible,
Shattered, leaving devastating gloom.
The only fact which is clear now
Whoever was right or wrong -
Is, joy disappeared from our hearts
And on our lips - died our happy song
The sand and water that were the basis
Are still very much there
If we decide to forget the past
We can build anything again, anywhere
This Time
Let it not be a castle of sand
But build on the foundation of love
With walls of understanding &
roof of trust
A shelter forever, not just an illusion for 'now'
