MIRRORS ON A LAKE

As the years pass me by,
I into a tiny infant turn,
Regressing into the womb of time,
With life giving forces burn.

To be born again in happier times,
Where life is unhurried and kind,
Love is warm, promises kept,
And people not so blind.

I talk to myself to keep the wolf away,
Sing and softly giggle,
Fill my life with tenderness,
To stop those worrisome niggles.

Idle gossip, senseless chatter,
Now it does not sense make,
These wondrous, gazing newborn eyes,
Reflect me like mirrors on a lake.

And like a tot whose mind is free,
As the vastness of the sky,
I lift myself from this insensible world,

And into infinity fly.
