ILLUSION

When I was I and you were you

And the days were truly few

When we two for sure this knew

That a 'Kumbhakarna'

Snored between me and you.

I opened the windows of my Self

And as I looked out

Darkness wrestled with Day in the street

While uniformed men beat a tail-less retreat.

I closed my eyes

And as I focused my inward eye

The waters of the Ganges stood like a rock

And the Word stood silent like a lowly stock

While far on the shore Life lay supine- a fallen pine-

And 'Shiva' with His Consort at once resigned

Fate of men to 'Chitragupta’s' pen.
