A New Dawn

As the bird twitters
A new dawn so kind
Hail new morn
A new path I'll find
Far away from this madness that I now see
To a land far away across yon sea
Where palm trees keep swaying
To the gentle breeze
To the rhythm of grass skirts
Down to the knees
Where faces smile
Like the new sun
Laughter fills the air
While children have fun
Frolicking waves
Come pounding ashore
Squirrels add nuts to their store
White crests like angels
Fly through the air
Looking towards heaven
And the heavenly stair
Wind through my hair
Salt on my breath
Feet planted in soft sand
Below cuffs that are wet
There in the distance
A solitary sail
Racing in contrast
Blue against pale
Seagulls in flight
Waiting for the launching of boats
Busy bodies readying
Colourful floats
For festival time comes near
There's joy in the air
Golden confetti
Adorn dark hair
All this paradise
Through my minds eye I see
Though I'm miles away from any sea!
