5 MINUTES
"Could you hold him for 5 minutes?" she asked "Have to go and get his feed" She put the tiny bundle in my arms and promised to return in good speed
The world around me ceased to be As I stared in wonder at the tyke Ten tiny fingers and ten tiny toes A bald head and bright black eyes
Suddenly he reached up and grabbed my hair And wailed as I disentangled his fingers I tickled his belly and he shrieked in joy Gurgled as I whispered gibberish
Lost track of time as I played with him So this was the bliss they talked about This was how it felt to be complete Finding reason to live having given life
"I'm back" she yelled as she sped towards us Startling me out of my reverie Part of me wanted to turn and run Taking newfound happiness alongwith me
But handed him back with aching heart 5 minutes of borrowed joy elapsed 5 minutes when I had soared so high 5 minutes, that I'll cherish forever
