Today

Never was there such colour & sparkle
In life's everyday fare,
Till you came into my life
My days were drab and bare.
Nothing good
seems to last forever,
Dusk soon follows dawn;
Our time together is nearing its end
That's what instinct warns.
The shadow of parting is closing in
Ominous clouds of despair loom;
Time is marching relentlessly
I've forebodings of impending doom.
The dreaded day will soon arrive
And bring with it what it will.
Today, this nectar, let's drink deep
And not let a single drop spill.
Memories are all we'll have tomorrow
If things don't work out as we will.
So let us make the most of it
While we have ' Today' still.
