These Dreams

Deep down within me
So deep that none can see,
Is an alcove of cherished dreams
Chained, yet longing to fly free.

Since the breath of life is freedom,
So they're dying within,
Soon they will exist no more,
Taking me along with them.

Sometimes they rage to break this ring of pain,
Trying so hard to just... to just be,
Yearning to break the shackles and chains
Longing to just fly free.

Should I cage them and tie down these precious dreams?
Should I drain the life out of these treasured dreams?
Should I extinguish the fire within my soul?
And kill all that which makes me whole?

Oh! what do I do with these forbidden dreams
Living deep, deep within me?
