Whenever they need you Need you to be there They make such promises For a lifetime to share
They string words into phrase That sounds ever so sweet And make those promises They never intend to keep
They make promises Because “I felt like it then” And perhaps just to see If you’d make promises to them
You always trust them When they whisper your name You believe their promises You do the same
Yes it’s those promises That hurt more than the pain Still you wait for them to come back To make those promises again.
