ITS ME

As I look into the mirror

Some gray patches I see

It's me?

I know that endless years have passed

My eyes have dulled

My skin wrinkled

Is that my father?

No...really

It's me.

But is that not just a shadow

The real me is deep inside

No mirror can show the pain

The hurt, the loneliness

The fears and the tears.

No mirror can show the wounds

that never heal

The sadness and the madness

The bitterness and the emptiness.

No mirror can show a broken heart

The hopes, the dreams

As the emotions scream

That's the real me

It's me.
