BIRTHDAY

This, my love, is a special day, a day to celebrate
A day to pray for your long life, my wonderful soulmate
A day to wish you fulfillment of every desire dear
I pray this day comes all my life, every passing year.

For you have helped me smile within, when nothing else would do
For I know well how empty would, my world be without you
And even as we are together - from far, yet intimate
Your love fills up the space between, a space destined by fate.

But let us shed these sombre thoughts, on your birthday baby
Let us enjoy what we have, not worry with the ‘maybe’
Because we have, as ordained long, missed out on the past
The present is all ‘us’ my love, in future I have trust.

For when today was tomorrow and yesterday, today
And when the colours of our life looked cozily grey
We came upon each other, painted a rainbow new
Two souls merged for eternity, we bid the past adieu.

And thus will come tomorrow, today will fall behind
And yet somehow this day will stay, always in my mind
For me it is the date of birth of a woman that I love
‘Thank you for ever making her’, I tell the One above.
