A Mother's Pain

There comes a time, when
In every mother's life,
Helplessness sets in
Creating pain...and strife.

When her child was young
Hurt could be taken away,
The "boo-boo" was kissed, and
She went merrily on her way.

But when her child is grown
And has children of her own,
She learns that life can be more
Severe than she'd ever known.

It's then that all the kisses
In the world can't take away
The cruelness of the world
That now has come her way.

Her pain becomes your pain,
Her sadness with yours combine,
The tears that are shed are two-fold..
For the sadness she feels, and mine.

How I pray that the Lord above
Will remember her once more..
Restore her to the life she knew
And continue to bless, as before.

Until then, I helplessly watch
As she struggles to hold on,
Knowing that if she lets go
The enemy, the world, has won.
