WINTER RAIN

I looked out of the window, glass smeared with rain
Skies grey and full of cloud, damp air made visible
The tree's in the distance, stark, leafless
Distorted by the drops running down, shapes made strange
Earth damp, road black with moisture, grass gleams
Birds huddle on rooftops, feathers fluffed, beaks under wings
Heaven weeps, and the water hits the ground, perfect splashes
Trampolining back towards the air, but ony to fall again
Casting the flow onto the ground already saturated
Soil mixing running with the water into receiving streams
And then to Posiedons welcoming arms mixing with salt and waves
To start The Mother's circle once again
Gift gracefully given sometimes thoughtlessly taken
I turn from the window, the warm room awaits.
