TREE How
does a tree tell you its happy ? That
it loves the rain that falls ? The
sun that shines ? The
earth that its roots sink into ? The
wind that moves its leaves and branches ? The
sound of the sister/brother trees in the wood ? The
slow accumulation of years and the rings they leave ? It
sings , And it is a long slow song, with many verses And
the song is heavy with the scent of many years With
memories of storms and summer suns Light
breeze on spring days, branches moving softly Bluebells
clustering around the trunk, air perfumed And
the song, if your heart and mind is open can
fill you with the smallest part of the Tree's magnificence even
sing yourself and share, be open to it, do not pass by Do
not be deaf to that tune, but listen, and listen well For
is a gift given for us to share, like the rain in the stream bed be
not blind nor ignore it, Absorb it and treasure it and
in your heart preserve, that song that speaks through
the green and brown, root, bark and leaf ~ Edward Radfall ~
