Travelling Together, Yet ....

From horizon to horizon for all eternity
The train tracks journey together
Twin souls in sync, from beginning to end
Yet always apart from the other.

They arrive together from places unknown
And together they will go
To the horizon and beyond
Through hills and valleys, highs and lows.

They seem to meet further ahead
To the onlooker's naive eyes
But the tracks have traversed endless miles
And found it a recurring lie.

Even though they unite others
Carrying lovers to meet their mates
That they will never meet
Is their ordained fate

Travelling together to infinity and beyond
Their trip is doomed from the start
As fate has decreed,  so it shall be -
Though forever together, they are always apart
